Job Summary: Basic purpose or primary function of the job:
The Platform Engineer is expected to provide solutions to promote the effective management and maintenance of our client computing environment. This position will be responsible for the continual analysis and evolution of current systems and be expected to provide recommendations based on the review and evaluation of existing and emerging technologies. While the focus is on client computing, a solid understanding of all infrastructure technologies is essential for success as this role includes heavy project involvement across all systems administration disciplines. By becoming a part of our growing Platform Engineering team, the Platform Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and evolving the technical processes and mechanisms for building client computers enterprise wide.

Additionally, they will be accountable for managing our desktop process and configuration management utilities based on need, value and feedback from the technical community. They will develop innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies to completely automate our build process and reduce time from build to deployment.
The ability to make timely and appropriate decisions, to work closely with others to resolve problems/conflict and to multi-task on open problems is expected. An extensive degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Job Responsibilities:
This role requires working experience in automating desktop image configuration and management specifically geared towards mass distribution. Additionally this role requires a working knowledge of VBScript and a thorough understanding of Active Directory and related server technologies.
Knowledge of the Windows registry
Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows desktop Operation Systems
Proven experience in initiating technology projects and providing innovative ideas
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and organized, have good interaction with users and team members, and have excellent communication skills.
Results oriented individual who is able to respond and adapt quickly in our dynamic environment.
Strong working knowledge of desktop administration and application administration procedures
Strong working knowledge of advanced hardware concepts
Possesses well-developed technical documentation and facilitation skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills.
Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy
Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a MUST

Required Licenses / Certificates / Registrations A+ Service Technician Certification a plus
Microsoft Certified Professional or higher a plus
Required Education and Experience Minimum education required; cite years and type of experience

Creates completely automated installation packages for shrink-wrap, home-grown and MSI applications.
Works with appropriate teams to develop standards and policies that will be enforced and delivered via Active Directory Group Policy
