Powerwave Technologies, in Merrimack, NH seeks an experienced, results-oriented Sr. Systems Engineer to solve technical challenges on new and existing radio frequency (RF) and fiber optic transceiver designs for the Company-s Wireless Products.

The successful recruitment of an outstanding Sr. Systems Engineer will support the development of such new products and thereby significantly contribute to the Company-s continued growth and success.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The Sr. System Engineer is responsible for making technical decisions that solve challenges related to Powerwave-s next generation RF repeater products. The Engineer will make decisions throughout the entire product development cycle- from requirement definition and architectural concept selection to system test approach and customer acceptance process. The Engineer is also responsible for managing related projects to ensure adherence to target performance, cost and schedules.

- BS degree in electrical engineering
- 7 or more years of related experience

Experience/Skills
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Knowledge of analog and digital RF circuit designs, with hands-on prototyping and integration experience.
- Experience integrating complex high power (> 10W) RF systems. Understands the pitfalls of integrating hardware and software modules with a compact schedule.
- General knowledge of optical design and experience in real world applications of multi-node active and passive optical networks.
- General knowledge of mechanical concepts for RF related products residing in climate controlled and uncontrolled environments.
- General knowledge of digital design concepts for RF products operating in complex signal environments.
- Experience taking RF test measurements and troubleshooting in a lab environment. Working knowledge of various RF test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
- Proven ability to lead technical design efforts from concept to production, meeting schedule, cost, and customer-s expectations.
- Superior written and oral communication skills. Ability to produce insightful engineering reports with conclusions and recommendations, as well as generate clear, well organized presentations to customers and design teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in Microsoft Project and Visio desired.
- Familiar with network management of telecommunications systems and shortcomings of existing management systems.
- Knowledge of general networking concepts and IP network setup desired.
- Knowledge of laboratory test tools (e.g., LabView) desired.
- Knowledge of data management and version management tools (e.g., Agile, SVN, TWiki) desired.
- Knowledge of Linux Operating System and standard programming languages (e.g., C++) desired.
- Knowledge of bug tracking tools (e.g., Bugzilla) desired.
- Knowledge of CAE (e.g. ADS, serenade, Auto Cad, HFSS, PCAD, etc.) a plus.
- History of innovative design techniques (i.e. patents, published papers) a plus.
- Working knowledge of various RF modulation and regulatory standards a plus.
