JOB TITLE: PRODUCT ENGINEER

LOCATION: SAN ANTONIO, TX

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Product Engineer designs, develops, tests, evaluates, and documents software and systems, applying the principles and techniques of computer science and engineering that produce an effective and secure product meeting the requirements of the business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Product Engineer:

Researches, designs, and develops computer software systems

Documents development work

Implements and integrates third-party applications for use in the business

Works with Business Analysts, Product Management and End users on how to implement the business requirements

Provide internal staff and customers with resolution to advanced and/or escalated technical issues

Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control

Works with Sales Engineers on pre-sales consultation with customers, as required

Reviews and tests hardware to meet internal and product requirements

Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within communicated time and cost constraints

Works with vendors on resolution of hardware and software issues

Some travel is required

Periodic On-Call rotation duty is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Self motivated individual able to work independently
  • Strong knowledge of programming concepts
  • General knowledge of multiple programming languages with proficiency in at least one high level Scripting language (Perl, Ruby, PHP, ColdFusion, .NET)
  • Strong knowledge of Internet protocols and conceptual knowledge of networking
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a team player and have a great attitude. Interfacing with other areas of the organization is a must.
  • Expertise in either Windows or Linux with working knowledge of other platform
  • Expertise in database design and administration and in SQL variant
  • Two years experience of Engineering and/or Development in an Internet intensive environment
  • Knowledge of securing public facing systems
