ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Product Engineering Manager:
Leads their reports in determining the nature of technical problems and possible solutions, such as product redesign, substitution of material or parts, rearrangement of parts or subassemblies, or specialized programming. Investigates designs, both physical and logical, for improving performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development. Works with Product Engineers to develop test specifications, procedures, objectives, tests new products, applying knowledge of engineering. Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control. Ensures all engineering work and products are documented to ensure repetitive processes are followed. Ensures proper resource allocation within the group of Product Engineers they manage, balancing tasks, projects, and all work activities effectively. Assists Product Management in the formulation of overall objectives, policies, and plans for the development and implementation of new Product Offerings and provides technical and specialized functional services and recommendations for carrying them out. Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications. Provides planning, direction and coordination for all technical activities while achieving optimum use of workers, machines, materials and facilities.
