Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with Information Systems processing is required. One (1) to two (2) years of programming experience. A proficient working knowledge of COBOL is required. A working knowledge of VB.NET, COGNOS or SAS is desirable. Experience in library maintenance software, JCL, MS Office and relational databases (e.g. DB2) is preferred. Experience in health care, actuarial or financial data tracking and reporting applications (e.g. cost and utilization, claims analysis, enrollment tracking) is preferable. Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Must be a team player and capable of multi-tasking. The incumbent must make an acceptable score on the CPAB (Computer Programmer Aptitude Battery). REWARD LEVEL II. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, write, test, and document computer programs, subroutines, and scripts to meet project objectives. Maintain current production code. Work independently or assist other Information Systems employees in investigating and resolving system failures in order to reduce the system downtime. Evaluate new or alternative data processing techniques to determine their usefulness in meeting project needs and deadlines. Assist programmer trainees in program design, testing and debugging to improve departmental production. Assist in planning and implementing conversions. Assist in preparing and maintaining System and Application documentation. Perform the role of mentor by offering advice, suggestions or other means of support to new programmer personnel. Identify and develop the most appropriate solution to a business requirement.df-tc
