Programmer

Duties and Responsibilities:

?h Consult with management to determine information requirements of management, to determine boundaries and

priorities of new projects and to discuss system operational capacity and requirements.

?h Confer with department heads involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and further define nature of

project.

?h Review project feasibility studies. Establish work standards and document procedures.

?h Participate in technical projects such as documentation of computer programs for specified programming

applications.

?h Prioritize all requests for programming and assistance to all clients (ie EDI).

?h Review new or modified programming including documentation, diagram and flowchart, to determine if programs

will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines.

?h Recommend program improvements or corrections to programmers.

?h Identify differences between established standards and user applications and suggest modifications to conform

to standards.

?h Set up tests at request of user to locate and correct program operating error following installation of program.

Conduct compatibility tests with vendor supplied programs.

?h Monitor program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and

ensure efficiency of operation.

?h The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an

extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and

concrete variables.

1. Computer Systems - AS/400, S/36, PC s and PC networking, Apple Macintosh

2. Operating Systems V OS/400, S/36 OS, Windows 2000/XP, Windows Server, Mac OS X

3. Programming Languages V RPG II, RPG/400, RPG ILE, VB and .Net, Clarion

4. Procedural V CL, OCL, Windows command line, S/36 Sort, SQL, AS/400 Query Files

5. AS/400 Products V RVI Imaging, EDI(Inovis), Trailblazer(ZMOD & FTP), Lotus Domino, CA/400, Infoprint

6. Web V HTTP, PHP, VB.Net

7. Misc. V BSC, SDLC, RJE, VPN, IBM MQ, Websphere

8. Customs and Border Protection V ABI, Customs Broker Software and CBP law and procedures

Education: Minimum Bachelors Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four year college or university
