Project Engineer -Media Asset Management Services

RESPONSIBILITIES: Project- “Jelly Roll”
Come play a role in the growth of the Disney ABC Television Group. Disney ABC Television Group encompasses Disney Channel, Toon Disney, SOAPNet, Radio Disney, and ESPN Radio. Disney ABC Television Group manages Disney's kids programming internationally and on multiple U.S. television platforms, including ABC Television, ABC Family, and Radio Disney and ESPN Radio throughout United States.


Overview
? This position is an operational role and supports the Jelly Roll initiative Enterprise wide.The position is located in the Disney ABC television Group
? Strategic goal is to develop an interoperability framework that supports moving media and metadata across TWDC Business Units and with outside business partners effectively:
? Identify and adopt application standards :
  • Metadata (UID, XML, SMPTE, MPEG, etc.)
  • Companywide Nomenclature & Taxonomy
  • Programmatic interface to existing and future media systems (the “connector”) – developer’s kit published (online and on CD)
    ? Establish and share an orchestration engine providing command and control
    ? Positions TWDC to react much more rapidly to new business opportunities while driving operational efficiency for existing processes.
    ? Connectors built and operational for:
  • Documentum (Java), Avalon (C#), AnyStream (Web Service to Web Service), MassStore (Ruby)
    ? Generic media asset management application in place and operational
    ? Disney customizations for search and security in place and operational

    Project Engineer

    Overall Responsibilities
    - Reports to the Director of Media Asset Management and is under the Disney ABC Television Group Organization
    - Develops and maintains custom software associated with the media services.
    - Partners with and supervises external software groups as they develop and maintain software associated with the media services.
    - Thoroughly understands TWDC’s media technology architecture, and positions the deployed software to anticipate Company needs.
    - Thoroughly understands the deployed software technologies (commercial products and custom development) and supervises new and updated deployments.
    - Partners with adopting BUs around TWDC to develop tools, processes and system customizations associated with their adoption/migration plans and supports them, where appropriate, in implementing those plans.
    - Translates the short-term adoption plans into specific, tactical deployment tasks for the operational software.
    - Translates the medium- and long-term adoption plans into specific, strategic development plans for the operational software.
    - Executes these plans (with partner groups where appropriate).

    Work Experience
    Minimum 6 years professional experience in software architecture, design and deployment.The individual must possess experience working effectively with multiple levels of TWDC management, as well as with external parties.

    Technical Skills
    The successful candidate should have a proven track record in a broad spectrum of software development – encompassing many programming languages, databases, web services and service oriented architectures, combined with knowledge of Disney’s media businesses. The role requires superior technical skills.

    B.S Computer Science, Engineering, or Technical degree required
