Summary:
Works independently or under direction of Associate Director, Risk/Compliance. Manages projects related to analysis, design, development, conversion, migration, testing, and implementation of Encryption Services projects. Organizes and directs members of a project team as required using matrix management. Team can be cross department, cross division, or cross company, internal and external. Assumes responsibilities as assigned of analysis, design, development, conversion, migration, testing, and implementation Encryption Services projects. Plans and implements the controls and reporting procedures within specific guidelines for time, cost and quality using earned value project management. Manages project and process integrity ensuring quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and execution of the project. Manages processes and procedures consistent with matrix management. Subject matter expert for Encryption Services and interfaces. Occasional International / Domestic travel required. Ability to work flexible hours. Job is located in Columbus, GA.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures project scope and requirements information is documented and approved.
2. Works under general supervision or independently.
3. Manages projects at all levels and interacts with other project managers as part of a project team.
4. Directs the creation, approval, monitoring and updating of the project plan using the resources of the project planning team and appropriate members from across the project.
5. Tracks daily project issues to include: time, cost, quality, scope, communication, integration, human resource, risk, and procurement with team members and consultants.
6. Manages associated projects and implementation schedules, testing, and production dates.
7. Ensures the required routine tracking and problem management of the project.
a. Uses metrics to forewarn of problems and to measure progress.
b. Ensures the identification, logging and resolution of project problems.
c. Ensures the timely and accurate communication of status both within and outside the project; includes risk assessment information.
d. Ensures the project’s highest priorities (risks) receive the appropriate attention.
e. Acts as a catalyst/facilitator in the resolution of project problems and conflicts; escalates when necessary.
f. Manages the project to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality.
8. Ensures acceptable project management practices are defined and followed.
a. Uses existing project management processes, creating new processes as needed.
b. Performs a lead role in identifying, defining, measuring and refining key project management related processes.
c. Uses project management-related tools to enhance overall effectiveness.
9. Trains or seeks training for the appropriate project members in the skills required for effective project management of their assigned areas.
10. Ensures key project-wide roles and responsibilities are defined for both in-house and customer project members.
a. Empowers others; encourages decision making be driven to the lowest level reasonable.
b. Ensures the customer’s needs are appropriately represented in the product development process.
c. Identifies those points in the project when approval is required and by whom.
d. Defines the escalation process to be used.
11. Works at developing and maintaining good working relationships with all persons and groups associated with the project, both inside and outside the project. This includes special attention to the customer. Actively pursues and encourages good working relationships among all project members and groups.
12. Practices, teaches and encourages the behaviors desired across the project.
13. Ensures the proper change control of key project assets; scope, requirements, project plan, product specifications, contracts, product documentation, etc.
14. Ensures key project documentation is preserved and can be retrieved for audit, review and legal purposes.
15. Assesses strengths and weaknesses at project completion and applies lessons learned to new projects.
16. Leads project planning team.
a. Provides direction to team members.
b. Monitors performance of team members and provides input to their Right Steps process.
c. Teaches skills to help team members increase their effectiveness.
