Overall Responsibility: Manage multiple I.S. projects, including application development projects, from inception to execution. Develop and implement effective project plans and related activities to ensure high quality systems and processes on time and within budget. Manager must be able to work effectively within a matrix-managed organization and actively direct the work of his/her project team. Leadership and management of both junior and senior staff is a requirement of the position. Functions: Directs the activities of the project team and resolve issues / remove barriers to accomplish results and get the job done. Works in close collaboration with both the business and systems departments of the overall project team. Regularly communicates with all project stakeholders and sponsors about project status using business language. Works with IS Management to ensure company standards are being adhered to. Performs detailed research and analysis, summarizes and presents findings. Coaches and provides training opportunities for project team members. Performs preliminary feasibility studies, in cooperation with user management and report on findings. Develops, obtains approval and maintains detailed project budgets. Manages and reviews the preparation of specifications and detailed systems analysis. Conducts or participates in the follow up evaluation with project teams. Organizes the collection and maintenance of various project related metrics on a regular basis. Ensures the project documentation is maintained, and reviews the quality and completeness. Participates in formal risk analysis (both at the onset and during project development). Liaises with Resources and Support to ensure project deployment is prepared properly. Keeps abreast of trends and development in the Technology field, by means of professional literature (books and magazines), Internet research and attendance of sources and seminars; assesses potential inter-company reports and makes recommendations accordingly. Assigns project staff to specific project tasks. Reviews weekly project status and staff time usage reporting. Handles third party software companies involved in the project development; controls their work. Liaises with other third parties, such as customers, supplies, port communities, public offices (e.g. customs), as involved with projects (in case of customers, contacts will always involve the sales person in charge of the customer). Recommends new, or enhancements to current, standards, methods and processes, and oversee implementation of same, where necessary. Works with the rest of the Project Management Team to identify and resolve resourcing issues / needs. Performs other duties as required.
