Description
This is a project management position whose primary function is to provide project management support to the Qpass product development organization. The Qpass product development organization is dedicated to delivering the world's greatest mobile commerce software product, on schedule and with market-leading quality.
The position reports to the Senior Program Manager in charge of the Program Management team. While deployed to a project, the Program Manager will, in most cases, take direction from an engineering manager responsible for overall delivery of the project.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop project plans and schedules.
Conduct Kick-off and weekly project review meetings.
Act as liaison with various groups and departments (e.g., Development, Product Management, Quality Services, Architecture)
Manage change within the project.
Coordinate & negotiate cross-departmental project activities and schedules.
Identify and manage cross-organization dependencies.
Facilitate issue resolution.
Participate in functional requirement reviews.
Initiate change control to approved project requirements.
Manage changes to project scope and communicate as necessary.
Identify activities that must be performed to produce project deliverables.
Identify & manage interactivity dependencies within product development.
Work with individuals and group managers to estimate duration for activities and set common milestone targets.
Implement & monitor project schedule based on detailed schedules provided by development and quality organizations.
Drive completion of deliverables & escalate issues to minimize any schedule delays.
Ensure quality by participating in test case reviews and tracking existing test metrics.
Act as the focal point for project communications.
Conduct on-going project meetings.
Gather & disseminate project information on a weekly basis (Weekly status report.)
Create an environment of team spirit.
Work with other project managers and senior program manager to identify and address cross-project dependences.
Contribute to master program schedule for product development releases.
Determine risks likely to affect project.
Gather project-specific risks from engineering managers and other team members.
Evaluate risks and assess potential impacts on project delivery.
Respond to risks as necessary and communicate decisions.
Collaborate on definition and implementation of project management standards, including scheduling and status reporting.
Contribute to ongoing refinement of software development lifecycle processes at Qpass.
Maintain exposure & training in software product and/or program management industry.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

A driver. There are two types of project managers in this world: a scorekeeper and a quarterback; we are looking for a quarterback.
4+ years of project or program management experience in a software development environment, hopefully at a product company.
Knowledgeable about all stages of the software development process.
Demonstrated ability to ship product. 2 or 3 successful releases, minimum.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal. Tailors communications to the appropriate audience: wonderfully succinct.
Strong Microsoft Project and Excel skills.
Some experience with team-based program management tools, such as eProject or Mercury ITG. Able to provide requirements for selection of such a tool should we identify the need.
Familiarity with RUP and MSF software lifecycle processes.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED

Bachelor degree in MIS, or equivalent experience.
PMI certification desired.
