Project Manager (Epic Next Wave), Systems and Applications

Location: Honolulu, Hawaii

Primary Responsibilities

Lead the enterprise-wide implementation of Epic's Healthcare Information System (HIS) in a Hospital outpatient environment for the region's leading hospital organization. The project will build upon the successful implementation of Epic's HIS in the Hospital's inpatient environment. The project manager will be responsible for the successful outcome of the implementation and will be expected to manage the project utilizing the methodologies and principles defined by the Project Management Institute and Epic.

The successful candidate will acquire in-depth application/system knowledge and expertise for the implemented applications. At times, this position may require some night and weekend hours as well as on-call (pager) responsibilities.

Primary Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
-Minimum of six years of experience in Healthcare Information Systems (HIS), with practical experience in hospital operations and systems analysis
-Five or more years of management experience showing increasing responsibility to include personnel, capital and operation expense budgeting responsibilities
-PMP certification preferred

-Strong leadership characteristics; self-confidence, and able to articulate issues
-Ability to plan, direct and coordinate activities of an applications support group
-Demonstrated ability in high-level problem solving
-Possess managerial skills that empower and develop others; fosters teamwork
-Demonstrated stewardship in the application of ethics and the use of resources. Is sensitive to social and cultural issues

Communication

-Ability to work and communicate effectively
-Ability to interface, creating a positive working relationship with Information Services related organizational divisions external to Hospital
-Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and the expertise to translate technical terminology into terms understandable by management, department heads and performance level personnel

Application and Technical Expertise

-Understanding of the healthcare applications suite and their place in the acute care, physician, ambulatory and ancillary settings
-Ability to solve highly complex technical, organizational, operational, and people problems
-Technical knowledge of programming language(s), integration, operation systems and conversions
-Programming logic skills and the proven ability to maintain and understand complex applications
-Excellent technical troubleshootingdf-tc
