CURRENT SITUATION

Client is migrating 4000 users dispersed over more than 10 sites in North America from traditional voice telephony to VoIP. The migration will occur over multiple locations including Arlington (VA), Irvine (CA), Alpharetta (GA), Rancho Cordova (CA), Menlo Park (CA), Chicago, and several other corporate locations. This migration front-ends the execution of a new go to market strategy for our client, which will include the evolution from being primarily web-based enterprise to more of a hybrid brick and mortar/web presence that will enhance their corporate strategy of providing full service brokerage and financial services. In addition, they anticipate that this VoIP platform will drive considerable cost savings and enable the integration of new features such as intelligent call routing. Currently, there are a couple of working test sites in the company.

TECHNOLOGY & INTEGRATION

The client will be transitioning from traditional voice telephony hardware from Avaya to a Cisco VoIP hardware platform. The systems integrator will be eLoyalty. The major client constituencies will be the IP Infrastructure and Voice Telephony groups. This initiative has C-level approval and sponsorship.

POSITION

Client is looking for a contractor to provide traditional Project Management discipline to this effort and assure that the project is effectively managed resulting in minimal disruption to their business operations. This will require the full range of project management skills such as planning, GAP assessment and remediation, resource leveling, task management, business impact assessment and prioritization, change management, and general communications coordination between the various client and vendor constituencies.

The ideal candidate will have been the project manager (not an individual contributor!) of a traditional voice telephony to VoIP migration that approaches the scale of this effort (at least 1000 users). This person will possess excellent traditional technical project management skills and would ideally have had some banking/brokerage industry experience. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strength in process development and management as well coordinating and managing the activities of third party hardware and systems integration providers. The position will report to the client's VP of Global Infrastructure.

Required Skills/Experience:

Strong and verifiable success in Project Management for large scale technical projects
Project leadership of a similar in scope migration from traditional voice telephony infrastructure to VoIP - a dispersed base of over 1000 users

Desired Skills/Experience:

Banking/brokerage industry process and systems experience

DETAILS

Atlanta area candidates only - no out of area traveling resources
Some travel to the various NA sites will be required
Must have proficiency with MS Project and Visio tools.
Project planning starts on 12/13
Client would like to identify and start this resource no later than mid-January 2005.
Assignment is estimated to have a duration of 12 to 18 months.
There is a possibility (but not a guarantee) of a contract to permanent conversion at the end of the consulting engagement.
Candidates must pass a criminal background check prior to being on-site at the client site.
The client environment is a dynamic, fast paced and high pressure.
