Our client will be contracting a project manager until the end of this calendar year.

They are looking for a business oriented PM.

The PM must have deep experience with standard best practices – planning, scheduling, risk and issue management, conducting meetings, etc. To that end a PMP or certification from an accredited university is desirable but not absolutely necessary. However, a PMP will be considered over one who is not.

This position is for a business oriented generalist with a track record of integrating systems into a business. This is not a position for a technical specialist.

Candidates must have successfully completed complex projects, ie. Integrating several applications on behalf of business groups.
Must have supported different risk processes, have an excellent understanding of best practices. Someone with the ability to think out of the box.

This is a matrix environment where no PM has a dedicated team. Here soft skills are critical. The person must have exceptional skills in communication (written and verbal), conflict resolution, facilitation, running meetings, political savvy, etc.

Candidates will be extensively interviewed. Our client may want to see examples of their project plans, schedules and other project artifacts


Description

The Project Manager is responsible for delivery of projects chartered to address business issues, opportunities, business processes, and associated application development and delivery as defined by company leadership. This is not an IT position. It is a business project manager role interacting with IT and managing business tracks.


Responsibilities

Utilize industry-accepted project management best practices and firm-established project management processes to direct project planning, execution and control

Identify project risks, perform risk analysis, risk response planning, and monitor and control all risks through project completion

Escalate unresolved critical issues for decision by group Leadership

Measure project progress to be reported to group Leadership


Qualifications:

At least six years of project management experience with a focus on managing and deploying medium to large scale complex business projects

Professional Certification (PMP) is preferred but not required

Minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university

Must be comfortable working in a matrix environment.
The emphasis is on coordinating and facilitating business functional and technical areas.

Thorough knowledge of project lifecycle methodology and artifacts.

Ability to visualize business processes and understand enabling technology solutions for business problems or opportunities.

Must have highly developed written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with strong meeting facilitation skills

Must demonstrate excellent planning and analytical skills

Proven ability to interact with both business and technical representatives

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Office and comfortable with project management toolsdf-tc
