Current Recruitment Objective:

Seeking skilled technical writer to join an established technical writing team producing printed and electronic reference and training materials. Candidate must be proficient with current Adobe FrameMaker software and be able to demonstrate expertise with the professional tasks listed below.


Publications Specialist Position Summary:
Responsible for developing, writing, compiling, and editing product-related technical, training, and marketing materials for publication in hardcopy and electronic formats.

Job tasks:
Technical Writing
Research, develop, and write content for internal documentation and/or external publications relating to software, hardware, technical procedures, and computer-related services.
Review and revise existing content following established guidelines for technical and training publications.
Graphic Design / Marketing
Capture, create, or manipulate graphic images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in publications.
Design creative, image-enhancing artwork and layout for materials used in marketing and promoting the company’s services.
Coordinate with graphic and print production companies to produce printed materials.
Online Publishing
Write, organize, compile, and maintain browser-based online help files to support software product end users.
Work with product trainers and other subject matter experts to produce interactive computer-based training components that include product simulation, narration, and user evaluation. Responsibilities include creating a pre-production storyboard that details the on-screen display, the narrative elements, and the testing scripts for each e-learning module.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Proficiencies:
Strong analytical ability and proficiency in translating complex concepts and procedures into easy-to-understand technical and instructional materials in both print and interactive or online formats.
Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team to successfully complete both repetitive and detailed work assignments and to organize and implement multiple projects at once.
Proficiency in current processes and tools used in technical writing and for publishing in print and online.
Well-developed language and communication skills and substantial knowledge of grammar and writing standards.
Skilled, literate, and adaptable to personal computers and software in a networked environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with internal and external clients.


Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study is expected. Two to five years’ job experience and strong evidence of successful product output can be substituted for a specific degree or formal training.


Travel Requirements: There is no routine travel required with this position.
