Senior Systems (NetIQ) Engineer

Description :

The Net IQ Engineer analyzes complex local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices. Provides third level customer support. This includes troubleshooting and problem determination, monitoring, and log analysis. Day to Day activities also involve assisting in the monitoring functions with responsibilities for What's-Up Gold 7.x.

We are looking for a well rounded system engineer who is knowledgeable in the requirements listed therein, as well as one willing to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities:

• System and application performance monitoring of systems for an enterprise, high availability network


• Assesses management tools and recommends best practice solutions for large-scale enterprise networks


• Researches and recommends new technologies to fulfill the mission of the Enterprise Solutions Monitoring team


• Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including E-Mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like


• Configures systems to user environments


• Supports acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services


• May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower level employees


• Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts


• Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts


• Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious


• Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives


• Capable of self-initiating projects


• Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results


• Work is checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior


• Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product

• Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs


• Acts as advisor to management on advanced technical research studies and applications

Required skill sets:

• MUST Be experienced App Manger Suite, (NetIQ) and the products within that suite which include:


• MUST Be experienced Security Manager (SM)


• MUST Be Vulnerability Manager (VM)


• MUST Be Ability to work with SQL Servers


• MUST HAVE Some Experience with




• HP open view,


• NetViz


• MUST HAVE Windows Exchange background


• Minimum of two 2 years experience with AD Manager


• SAN experience a plus


• Knowledge of Scripting a must


• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows NT/2000/2003 Server a plus


• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Active Directory a plus


• Documentation skills a plus


• An ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, has the ability to work and think well independently, and works well in teams

• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and experience working in a large and structured Network Operations Center or hosting facility.

• MUST HAVE Active DOD Secret clearance or better.


• MUST BE OF US CITIZENSHIP TO SUPPORT THIS US GOVERNMENT CONTRACT.

Skills, Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent science oriented discipline and/or years of experience to equal.
