Description

Our client is looking for a Quality Assurance Testing/Automation Engineer for a six month contract to hire opportunity in Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities will include the following activities:

  • Implement the planning, design and execution for automated testing of complex Web-enabled Business Intelligence applications, Client Server applications, extract, transform, and load applications, batch processes/jobs, connectivity efforts, and environment and network related automation support
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts, jobs, functions (functional libraries), etc for product automation candidates
  • Develop and execute test scripts as well as document detailed expected results. Includes scripts for functional, regression, performance and system tests using manual and automated methods.
  • Develop complex SQL queries using querying tools
  • Develop PL/SQL blocks, stored procedures
  • Load test data into databases and query execution
  • Database conversions and Scripting
  • SQL/PL/SQL and relational database manipulation
  • ETL processes and testing
  • Verify all test results to ensure system is performing functions as described in business requirements and design documents.
  • Write detailed and accurate problem reports/defects where applicable.
  • Work with QA team to provide high-level training for script execution and maintenance
  • Monitor and improve company-wide best software development practices including but not limited to all automation test methodologies and implications as a result of change control, version control, requirements analysis, coding standards etc.
  • Use and recommend change to current automated and load testing methodologies.
  • Review application documentation as it pertains to automation requirements to ensure highest level of quality
  • Conduct metric collection and analysis
  • Collaborate with the Project Management group to ensure appropriate QA information is updated and distributed to necessary stakeholders
  • Review application documentation to ensure highest level of quality

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in IT Applications Development specifically in test automation and documentation is preferred.
  • Experience defining test automation standards and automate tests for software applications
  • Experience analysing and discovering software deviations.
  • Experience writing VB/VBA Scripting or C, as well as proven diagnostic & debug skills
  • SQL (PL/SQL-AQT) preferred and understanding of relational databases, specifically Oracle 8i/9i and SQL Server 8 as well as the idiosyncrasies involved in each
  • Experience with Unix commands to execute automated processes
  • Experience with Web/.NET/JAVA technology; Windows/XP/ME/Unix platforms; Mercury Suite of Products (QTP/Loadrunner/Quality Center); MicroStrategy/BI environments; verify queries, validate input, write complex automation test scripts
  • Understands ETL processes and testing
  • Proven ability to work in a Matrix environment
  • Ability to test software applications
  • Ability to analyze and discover software deviations
  • Proven ability to write and execute SQL queries
  • Thorough Understanding of the SDLC as it applies to QA artifacts, processes and activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include advanced interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work autonomously with very limited supervision as well as collaboratively with others.

  • Familiar with QA and issue reporting
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts eg star schemas, hierarchies, facts etc.
