General Summary:

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in current Software Quality Control industry standards including test methodologies, Agile, iterations, and the various processes related to testing and time estimation. Candidate is able to analyze existing test processes and recommend opportunities for alternate test methodologies or process improvement. He/she can test web application and client-based software to verify that programs function according to specifications and standards and assist with accurate projections and estimations. The ideal candidate will have management and/or leadership experience.


Essential Job Functions:

Assists in software testing estimations and version release projections.

Analyzes existing testing processes and recommends opportunities for alternate testing methodologies or process improvement based on current industry standards.

Creates and executes detailed test plans, including comprehensive test cases and test data.

Tests software programs and compares results to specifications and documentation.

Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, online screens, and content.

Observes and reports software inefficiencies in operating and response times.

May create and execute automated test scripts using testing software. May install, maintain, or use testing software.

Responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operations of software.

Contributes to establishment of standards and procedures for software design and testing.

Recommends software improvements and revisions with approval of product manager.

Identifies software variances from standards and suggests modifications, with approval of product manager.

Reviews test logs and reports to identify processing errors and possible improvements.

Conducts compatibility tests with other software programs, hardware, multiple operating systems, and network environments.

May assist users in isolating possible problems in software after new releases. May monitor software performance after implementation to ensure efficiency of operation.

Participates in group testing during the update process to ensure that each software version functions at optimal levels.

Documents, tracks, and communicates test plans, test results, analysis, and unresolved problems.

Provides information to technical writers to ensure applications are documented accurately.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of current Software Quality Control standards and test methodologies.

Skilled in procedures relating to integration testing involving client/server data sources and web presentation, functional application testing, regression testing and iterative software development life cycle.

Knowledge of web application and client-based software standards and testing processes.

Strong analytical ability.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.

Ability to establish effective, professional working relationships with clients and co-workers.

Self-starter with a desire to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.



Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent education is required. Minimum five years experience in software quality control. Practical and leadership experience in software testing or quality control required.
