Position Description - ISR3 RACF System Engineer - UNIX (P30)

Position is within the Information Security Residual Risk Remediation (ISR3) Mainframe Project reporting to the Mainframe Sr. Project Manager.

Hours are M-F 8-5 with some flexibility and potential for limited weekend work for unusual events and/or implementation emergencies. Business casual environment. Start as soon as possible with end date of December 2006.

Brief high-level overview of the area:

The ideal candidate must understand the connections between RACF and the various z/OS subsystems, CICS, DB/2, IMS, VTAM, Unix System Services, etc. Must have strong working knowledge of TSO, JCL, SDSF, ISPF, and Mainframe System Utilities. Knowledge of Consul, Vanguard, REXX and C-LIST is desirable.

The candidate must have a strong understanding of Unix System Services resources in a mainframe environment. An understanding of RACF concepts, structures and methodologies is required.

The candidate should also understand how to balance mainframe security with business requirements.

Skill set
Strong z/OS Unix System Service administration experience.
Unix System Services/RACF implementation and administration experience.
Experience in analyzing SMF data.
Experienced Technical/Team Lead capabilities.
Demonstrated technical writing capabilities.
Articulate complex technical issues using a variety of mediums.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Act as technical lead, researches plans and directs security personnel in complex security projects.
Can independently conduct data gathering and analysis for the development of quality analysis documentation.
Transition of knowledge to team members.
Participate in quality reviews and ensure traceability of the application design changes to the requirements.

Minimum Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
Knowledge of basic statistical methods
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills. Able to work with many different kinds of people.
Attention to detail, strong work ethic and results orientation
Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely
Ability to perform assigned tasks with limited supervision
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and solve problems in a timely and accurate manner.
Flexibility to support and manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously.
Must possess sound judgment/reasoning skills.
Must possess good organizational and polished in-person and telephone communications skills.
Generate and distribute reports pertaining to assigned responsibilities.
Attend and participate in meetings that pertain to assigned responsibilities.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned, which may include cross-utilization within the department or with other departments
Be a self-starter, able to complete projects with basic inputs and guidance
Outstanding problem solving skills. Able to actively analyze issues and identify resolutions.
Knowledge of network implementation methodologies in a complex environment.
Must be organized and detail oriented
Good verbal and written communication skills (in English).
Four-year degree a plus -- Major/Degree Preferred: Computer Sciences or Business/Engineering/Science with significant coursework in technology, statistics and business.df-tc
