Our client is a very successful educational products manufacturer, located in sunny and pleasant southern Orange County. The company is currently seeking a mid-level web developer who will assist them in migrating their e-commerce web sites from the .Net platform to Ruby on Rails. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity to work for a company which values teamwork, employee satisfaction, hard work, initiative, flexibility and an easygoing attitude. The right candidate will have 3 years of professional experience in software development and 2 years of experience using Ruby or Java or PHP, specifically in developing e-commerce web sites with full life cycle involvement. Basic understanding of relational databases, knowledge of cross-browser/cross-platform application development and experience with open source IDE are required. The following are the specific responsibilities of this position:• Develop e-commerce websites on Rails platform using Ruby.• Develop open source software modules using Ruby and Java.• Develop content management system using Ruby on Rails.• Create unit test cases while developing code.• Create detailed design documents for major projects.• Manage change requests and code migration.• Develop and establish standards, policies & procedures in line with industry standards.• Be involved in the planning, design, and requirements gathering phases of the software development life cycle.• Work with client managers and design team to review and elaborate project requirements, estimate development effort and implement quick proofs of concept.• Work closely with designers and other software developers and coordinate efforts for timely implementation of projects.
