We are seeking a Red Hat Linux Administrator for a 6-month contract-to-hire position in Suitland, MD.

Responsibilities:
- The qualified candidate will perform a variety of difficult assignments associated Red Hat Linux Clustered Servers with Global File Systems (GFS) including monitoring and controlling computer operating systems.
- Analyzes system faults and troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.
- Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing.
- Reviews and prepares documentation for systems and tests and installs software.
- Recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system problems.
- Administers systems solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules.
- Supports the planning of system requirements for individual projects.
- Resolve problems of and ensures project schedules and performance requirements are met.
- May provide work direction and guidance to others.
- May be responsible for the technical direction, leadership and training of less experienced staff.
- May determine methods and procedures to be used on new assignments.
- Contributes to the development of the organization's goals and objectives.
- Interfaces with vendors for trouble calls.
- Regularly interacts with functional per group managers.
- Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience or Associate's degree and 10+ years of experience or 12+ years of experience in lieu of degree.

Required Skills:
- 5+ years of Enterprise Data Center experience in systems administration of Red Hat Linux.
- The candidate should be an expert in Red Hat Linux environments and have Expert Level Skills in Red Hat Clustering and Global File Systems (GFS).
- Experience Scripting in BASH or similar Unix/Linux based tools.
- Ability to describe, create and manage system documentation, including standard operating procedures,and routine status reports; and script development, testing and implementation.
- Moreover, the candidate most be able to navigate through ambiguities and flexible to multi-task changing priorities.
- Capability to research, understand and follow through on deployment of security protocols that include application of security patches; installation and maintenance of third party software; provide interpretation and responses to vulnerability assessments from Nessus or other scanning tools; develop corrective action plans to remediate security vulnerabilities; describe the assessment and mitigation of system and project risk levels and be able to create project plans for stated projects.
- Familiarity with system backup strategies based using various tape, optical or magnetic disk technologies.
- Ability to describe participation in processes involving change management, vendor management, escalation procedures and project management.
- Ability to provide 7x 24x365 support using pager, cell phone, personal transportation to multiple sites and remote access tools.
- Ability to obtain a medium risk Special Sworn Status.
- Candidate must posses or be able to obtain a Title 13/Confidential Clearance before work commencement.
