Description
A growing and established Technology Company in the Phoenix, Arizona area is looking for mid-level to senior-level Linux System Administrators (Red Hat). The Linux System Engineer will be part of a highly-focused 24/7 Linux support/system administration team with responsibility for managing our client's mission critical application environments. The team is responsible for day-to-day proactive administration and operational support for the server and application environments with the objective of 100% business availability. The team designs and implements best practice methodologies for change management and ongoing operations, and designs and implements proactive monitoring, problem resolution, and corrective action procedures.

Required Skills:
The candidate must possess a passion for this support role and how it contributes to meeting the client's business objectives. An effective team member must possess a broad background in technology combined with strong collaboration and teamwork capabilities. Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Technical Degree or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of related Linux System Administration experience; 7 years for senior positions
  • Current, proven, and in-depth technical skills in Linux Administration
  • Participation in scheduled after-hours rotations
  • Availability to work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High degree of verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive sense of urgency in resolving problems and preventing recurrence
Desired Experience:
  • Experience supporting 24/7 mission critical application environments
  • Experience with implementing service management best practices based on ITIL, Six Sigma, or COBIT
  • Familiarity with application stress testing and QA Systems
  • Familiarity with DR approaches and crisis preparedness
  • Software experience in Red Hat Linux, Alaric Authentic Release 3, IBM JVM 1.4.2, WebSphere MQ6.0, NAGIOS, and Prognosis (highly desired)
  • Experience with 24/7 support models
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer Certification or Red Hat Certified Technician Certifications (highly desirable)
