Basic Function:
This HR generalist will work out of M&T's Rockville, Maryland location and be a strategic HR business partner for the Retail leadership in Greater Washington/Chesapeake Region.  The role will provide HR solutions including: recruiting, annual compensation processes, talent strategy and planning, employee relations, performance management, career development, organizational structure, employee morale initiatives, retention strategies, and management effectiveness.   


Responsibilities:
Designs HR strategies to align with business objectives.
Supports, coaches and counsels the management team with all facets of employment, legal, and employee relation issues.
Drives diversity as a key enabler of high performance culture.
Proactively identifies and develops strategic HR solutions for critical organization issues.
Creates the architecture for a disciplined people strategy process; drives the talent review process.
Leverages ideas across HR.
Ensures the implementation of HR initiatives across the business ensuring flawless, timely and consistent delivery.


Required Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years professional work experience with at least 5 years Human Resources experience.
Experience in both employee relations and recruitment.
Solid HR technical competency and knowledge of employment laws.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skill.
Demonstrated interpersonal, collaboration and team work skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and enhance relationships with employees, managers and external business partners at all levels.
Excellent written and verbal skill.
Ability to balance and prioritize heavy workload and multiple projects/task in a high pressure environment. 
Demonstrated presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
Effective persuasion and influencing skills.
High personal standard of integrity.
Ability to handle highly sensitive matters with objectivity and discretion.


Ideal Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and/or advanced degree preferred.
Financial services industry experience preferred.
Demonstrated selling ability to currently employed potential candidates on opportunities within M&T.
