Description
Design and development of efficient algorithms for analyzing different kinds of logs, for the purposes of fraud detection, accounting, and improving the quality of search results; Designing novel information retrieval tools or techniques, aimed at providing newer and better retrieval tools to the end
users; Design and development of various machine learning techniques for classification and clustering, for the purposes of personalization, fraud detection and improving the quality of search results; Analysis of existing algorithms that work over massive datasets, such as logs, and are designed to gather various statistics or do more complex tasks like clustering and classification. The aim of such an analysis is to identify and remove various
performance bottlenecks and make the algorithm more scalable, and at the same time improve the accuracy of the algorithm; Design and analysis of various
portfolio-optimization techniques, aimed at aximizing the advertising revenue for the company, while at the same time maximizing the return on investment
(ROI) for the advertisers. This involves designing optimal strategies for the selection and placement of advertisements on search-result pages; Designing
novel ranking criteria for search results, where PageRank and other existing strategies do not do well; Applying for patents and publishing papers in the appropriate conferences and journals, based on the results of research; Presenting talks, based on his research, at various conferences, workshops and
symposiums; Serving as a point of contact to faculty, from various universities, that have applied for research grants from our organization and evaluate grant proposals; Hosting or interviewing candidates that have applied for research and engineering positions; Mentoring other researchers and
