PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide robotics and instrumentation installation, repair and troubleshooting of programmable controllers, robotics, electrical and motor controls for manufacturing. To provide plant support for Robotics and Machine Controls.
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: Responsibility for quality and conformance of product to customer specifications per control plans utilizing TS16949 & ISO14001 documented systems; authority to stop non-conforming processes and report same to supervisor, Quality Assurance and/or Engineering department representative
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must be able to read, understand, and modify electrical prints and specifications if the project requires.2. Install production and support equipment in conjunction with Engineering and Production.3. Install, troubleshoot and repair common controls and sensors. (Including PLC, weld control, robotic systems and/or press controls)4. Modify existing control systems as required for operational changes.5. Troubleshoot and repair I/O logic circuits and devices, including mechanical, infrared, laser, and inductive sensors.6. Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code and OSHA standards.7. Build, troubleshoot, and repair electrical panels utilizing relay and programmable logic circuitry.8. Troubleshoot and repair electronic drives and controls.9. Write advanced programs for PLC logic and/or robot controllers and make modifications if the process requires.10. Inspect equipment condition utilizing established Preventive Maintenance procedures. 11. Direct other team members in performing tasks necessary for successful project completion.12. Install complete control systems with no supervision.13. Design and write programs that control motion, perform routine functions, make decisions, control I/O, and communicate to other control devices. 14. Seek continuous improvement opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce waste.15. Maintain necessary documentation including machine histories, preventive maintenance check sheets, and logbooks.16. Serve on Emergency/Spill Response team as assigned.17. Housekeeping and other activities as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILL: Individual must observe all safety regulations to insure own and others' safety; ability to read, write, and speak English; ability to use precise measuring equipment; basic math skills required; excellent teamwork skills required; individual to be mechanically inclined, self-motivated and reliable; ability to work overtime as required; individual must furnish basic personal tools for use at work. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to access equipment to troubleshoot problems; requires continuous standing, climbing, and bending with occasional kneeling, stooping, and crawling; lifting up to 75 lbs. occasionally; gross and fine motor use skills required; visual and audible inspection of machinery required; good hand-eye coordination; compliance with personal protective equipment requirements
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED: Hand tools, electrical & electronic test equipment, drills, precise measuring equipment, teach pendants, forklift, overhead crane, and housekeeping tools.
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. An associate degree in electronics from a two-year college or technical school preferred. Six years of press shop and/or assembly maintenance related experience in a manufacturing environment is acceptable. Knowledge of resistance and Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding and metal fabrication fundamentals, Robotics and PLC programming required. Must have the knowledge to develop spreadsheets and word documents.
TECHNICAL TRAINING: A successfully completed course on NEC standards is required. Basic electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics; Programmable Logic Controllers
Must have a four year degree or a journeyman's card.
WORK EXPERIENCE: 4 or more years in Industrial Maintenance, preferably in manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Basic electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics; Programmable Controllers required.
Industrial Electrical License a plus
