As a member of the SAP Basis team, the person will be responsible for the design, implementation and technical support activities required to maintain a SAP environment. The person will be required to work with programmers, analysts and consultants to ensure that technical specifications for reports, enhancements, interfaces and conversions are planned and implemented successfully. The person may participate in a number of projects that streamline processes and add functionality to the SAP implementation. The person will have advanced knowledge of a number of products, applications, methodologies and technical solutions to satisfy business needs.The main duties for this position is detailed below:1. Maintaining clients SAP system landscape. This includes participating in landscape design, client maintenance, client copies/refreshes and system copies/refreshes.2. Proactively monitor and maintain the production SAP environment. This includes using the Computer Center Management System and other tools to monitor system health and take any appropriate actions.3. Participate in planning and implementing SAP kernel upgrades, support packages, plug-ins and release upgrades.4. Participate in the planning, implementation and monitoring of backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures.5. Participate in the planning, design and implementation of the change control methodology using SAP transport and other tools.6. Participate in the planning, design and implementation of security using the SAP authorization concept and other tools.7. Participate in evaluating SAP transaction performance and recommending program or database changes where appropriate. This function is not limited to SAP and could span other development environments like Visual Basic.8. Champion innovative solutions and improvements that will result in enhancements to current methods, procedures and processes. Ensure that these new methods, procedures and processes are propagated throughout the enterprise.9. Ensure that technological solutions are designed, tested, documented, implemented and enhanced according to the operational standards and expected service quality. 10. Provide specialized technical knowledge of Intel hardware, Storage Area Networks, Windows, Oracle and Web/Internet technologies.11. Perform root cause analysis to ensure prompt long-term problem resolution. 1. Ensure that the production SAP system meets or exceeds 99.0% availability (or future business requirements)2. Ensure that the production SAP system meets or exceeds sub-two second response time for OLTP transactions (or future business requirements)3. Plan, define and deploy the day-to-day proactive monitoring and maintenance methodologies using the Computer Center Management System and other tools4. Plan, define and deploy the change control methodology using SAP transport and other tools, security using the SAP authorization concept and other tools, and SAP kernel upgrades, support packages, plug-ins and release upgrades as well as monitoring of backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures5. Perform testing, documentation and implementation of technology enhancements according to the operational standards and expected service quality6. Perform root cause analysis to ensure prompt long-term problem resolution7. Provide specialized technical knowledge of Intel hardware, Storage Area Networks, Windows, Oracle and Web/Internet technologies.8.
