Position Description:

The Software Development Manager is responsible for managing all custom development activities across our Process Redesign and SAP Implementation team, including:
SAP: ABAP development to fulfill RICEF requirements
SAP: Java development for enterprise services, xApps, and other custom
Strategic Application Development: Customization of existing applications to meet future-state requirements
Interfaces: Data, application, and process integration using SAP PI (XI), Tibco, EDI, ETL, and other techniques
Portal: SAP Enterprise Portal and existing Plumtree portal development
Responsible for managing teams dedicated to each development activity, providing oversight to work plan and coordinating program milestones with day-to-day work activities across all phases of the project. The Software Development Manager will have technical knowledge across all related technologies, In this position, he or she will be required to report progress to goals, identify key risks and develop mitigation strategies, and actively manage scope and approach of software development.

Provide development recommendations, options and pros/cons on potential changes to implementation scope and functionality. In addition, they will define development standards, processes, procedures and best practices. Work with Process Design Leads and Application Architects. Create a high performing team of internal and external resaources. Provide leadership to ensure team consistently meets goals.

Manager will be leading a team of approximately 32 employees and 10 consultants during the global design phase.

50% - Develop and manage work plan and resources for overall Software Development team
25% - Work across teams, both technical and process to ensure needs are being met
20% - Ensure timely issue identification, resolution, and appropriate escalation
5% - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as required

Experience/Skills
Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
15+ years of IT experience
5+ years of leading global application development efforts
Proven ability to build, lead and manage a large teams (e.g. 25+)
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
Business fluency in English
Preferred:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems or other technical degree
Broad knowledge across multiple aspects of SAP technology (i.e., ABAP, Extractors, WebDynpro, ALE, IDocs, BAPIs, BADIs, RFC, etc) and systems
Experience with Software Development methodologies and tools (e.g., ASAP, Solution Manager)
Have been part of multiple full lifecycle implementations of SAP solutions
Experience managing development in a heterogeneous environment
Experience managing outsourced development teams
