This position is responsible for supporting PolyOne?s business systems, included a variety of applications, hardware platforms, operating systems, SANs, and networking protocols. Responsibilities include communicating with the applications teams to ensure that the technical teams? tasks are correctly prioritized; ensuring 24x7 availability of stable and consistent development, test, and production computing environments; handling system and application security requirements; trouble-shooting problems in an organized, efficient, and timely manner.

This role is a working team member on the UNIX/Basis team, which is responsible for Unix-based and Microsoft-based operating systems, supporting 21 SAP instances and a variety of adjunct applications. The person serving in this role must have a working knowledge of UNIX or Linux, Microsoft Windows based Operating Systems, a rudimentary understanding of Oracle (or another) database concepts, a working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and associated protocols, and a willingness to pursue new technologies and responsibilities. The successful candidate will have a basic working knowledge of systems and applications management concepts, a good working knowledge of networking technologies and protocols, as well as some experience in programming and general systems administration. This individual should be self-motivated about pursuing skills development as he/she will be expected to grow in knowledge and capabilities as his or her experience grows at PolyOne.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Design, implement and maintain the PolyOne SAP environment (Legacy & production systems).
? Provide operating systems support for Business-critical systems, including R/3, BW, HR, LIMs, Ariba, Data Warehouse, Manufacturing, Payroll and other production/test environments.
? Provide SAP Basis support including code transports, client maintenance, printer configuration/maintenance, technical add-on installations, performance tuning/upgrades, kernel installations/upgrades, support packs, and systems planning.
? Provide general trouble-shooting of system and application problems and security issues.
? Special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education:
? Bachelors of Science or Arts from an accredited four year program (In absence of Bachelors, 4 years of additional experience in IT or related-field trade-off for degree.)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
? Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills required
? Ability to work with non-technical end-users and technical designers/developers.
? Ability to manage time and multiple projects
? Good organizational skills, with an ability to focus amid distractions
? Basic UNIX/Linux administration and security concepts
? Basic Microsoft NT/Windows systems administration and security concepts
? Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and associated protocols/Services: NFS, NTP, Kerberos, Samba/SMB, DNS/BIND, Network printing protocols (SMB, LPR, HPNP, etc.)
? Must be available for rotating 24/7 on-call status.

Required Length & Type of Experience:
? Two years of experience in an IT-related job function preferred

Required Certification, Licenses, Registration:
? Linux Certification preferred
? SAP Basis certification preferred
