Description
We are looking for a data modeler to join the SAP team in support of SAP BW. This candidate will own the entire data process from extraction to end-user reporting. They will work with the business community to collect reporting requirements. They will design the components that perform data extraction, transformation, cleansing and loading and will lead other resources in their completion. They will participate in the definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). They will design the data model and its components within SAP BW.

This candidate will also participate in the review and selection of external tools, aid in the extraction (ETL), cleansing, transformation, loading and reporting of data within SAP BW.

A strong history of data analysis and modeling, including SAP, is required. Ideally, the candidate will have at least 5 years of data warehousing / modeling experience with 2 years of experience in SAP BW (1 year being BW version 3.0 or higher). Experience with SAP BW version 3.1 including use of Business Content is preferred, as well as familiarity with financial analytics.

Specific skills are required in the modeling and creation of SAP BW data models.
Along with a general understanding of data modeling and warehousing, this candidate must be proficient in the use of:
-Performance techniques such as compression, aggregates and rollups
-Persistent Staging Area (PSA)
-BW Process Chains
-BW Enterprise Models
-Data extraction (ETL), cleansing and modeling tools (ie. Erwin)
-Creating, validating, and documenting logical models
-Dimensional and normalized data models
-Data access methods and the corresponding performance ramifications
-The use of operational vs. multi-dimensional reporting
-Knowledge of integrating external data sources
-Knowledge of data access tools and their use for analytics

This candidate must be able to:
-Develop prototypes of data models for end-user evaluation
-Define data and meta-data management standards and strategies
-Work with business users and translate requirements into data objects
-Possess solid time management skills and be able to deliver results in an unstructured environment
-Excellent communication skills and be able to function in a diverse team
-Ability to create concise project plans and technical specifications.
