Senior Electrical Engineer

Description & Responsibilities
Successful candidate shall serve as Senior Electrical Engineer with responsibility for applying knowledge of electrical engineering and project management principles and practices in engineering and construction projects.

As an Engineer

Preferred Experience and Attributes:
Building system design for electrical and communications systems
Lighting (interior and exterior) power distribution (low and medium voltage systems) fire alarm system design AND Voice and data systems
Medium voltage distribution design, 5-35kV, overhead and underground.
Thorough knowledge of electrical switchgear construction.
Team player with appreciation for associated disciplines: architecture, mechanical systems, life safety and codes and structural systems.
Tolerant of others; demanding of self.
Hungry to grow, rather than advance.
Experience in Contract administration and bid phase services
Experience in the supervision of the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel

As a Project Manager plans, coordinates and directs multidiscipline engineering design projects.

Manager must consistently meet and then exceed client expectations by ensuring accurate, complete, and timely communication of information to and from clients and firm staff.
Project manager must ensure the preparation of accurate and complete documents by the entire team.
Ensure timely project delivery.
Increase the flow of new work by discovering expanded/new work opportunities with existing clients, finding opportunities to serve new clients; and preparing winning proposals.
Deliver profitable projects by:
o preparing and maintaining Project Workplans
o acting quickly on budget deviations (hours/$) and extra service opportunities
o maintaining continuous open communication among client and firm team members
Accept responsibility for giving, seeking, and acting on feedback needed for personal career development and peak professional performance
Keep the Team Leader apprised of project status and need
Resolve project-related technical problems
Resolve project-related personnel issues

Reports to Technical Director of Electrical Engineering

Qualifications
Desired Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
Registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer by Examination in Texas
Minimum of 10 years experience with consulting engineering firms demonstrating increasing level of responsibility
Project Management Experience in managing multi-discipline projects
Some Client Management and Business Development Experience
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Micro Station, Microsoft Office Applications and SKM Power Tools and ETAP Modeling Software.
Knowledgeable with NFPA, Building and Life Safety Codes and application of codes to engineering design work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
