We currently have a great opportunity for a SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER to work at our corporate office located in Pasadena, CA.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under minimal supervision, the Sr. Graphics Designer utilizes customer-provided instructions, materials and information, along with current graphic design technologies and computer software applications, to prepare designs, artwork and copy layouts for proposals, presentations, reports, technical papers, newsletters and other visual communications media. The successful candidate, at this senior level, must be capable of performing difficult and complex graphic design assignments, on short notice, under tight deadlines, and in a dynamic environment where changes may be made up to the time of production.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have expert working level knowledge and hands-on capabilities using industry-standard graphics software and applications, including the ability to manipulate, insert/extract, update and modify tables and graphics that are embedded in electronic documents and presentations (e.g., MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Designs and prepares art and copy layouts, of varying complexity, applying established standards and formats from the Company’s style manual.

  • Works directly with technical writers, editors, authors/requestors and management to prepare, review and finalize artwork, text and other materials submitted for inclusion in assigned end products. The graphics designer is expected to recommend graphics design and content-related concepts and improvements to improve technical accuracy, effectiveness of expression and communication, clarity, consistency and compliance with Company styles.

  • Designs and produces reproduction-ready visual graphics for electronic or hardcopy delivery to customers; integrating developed graphics into proposals, presentations, newsletters, brochures, flyers, slides, charts, plots, diagrams, tables, sketches, isometrics, viewgraphs, posters, signs and certificates.

  • Modifies existing artwork as required, following a standard procedure to identify and catalog modified versions of the same graphic.

  • Serves as part of the Business Development/Proposal Center team to complete assignments according to schedule.

  • Provides production-related instructions to customers, Reprographics and Technical Publications, such as reduction sizing, quantity, binding/tabs, paper/ink selection, and etc.

  • Assists in mentoring new graphics employees; may review work produced by less-senior Graphic Designers.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position, as appropriate.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    At least an Associates Degree, in Graphics Design or another relevant field, is required. A Bachelor’s Degree, with a relevant major or minor field of study, is a plus. Six to eight years of relevant and successful work experience is required. Extensive experience working in a dynamic proposal/graphics environment, and experience working for a project management, engineering, construction engineering and/or construction management company is required.

    SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

    Requirements include an advanced proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite 2 and other industry-standard graphic design technologies and software used to complete complex graphic design assignments. Demonstrated proficiency in advanced graphic design skills and a thorough knowledge of graphics production techniques and reproduction/printing processes are required. Must have good conceptualizing, design and production experience and capabilities in the creation of high-end graphics. Must have recent experience and direct responsibilities supporting major proposal efforts, including the creation of proposal themes, “look-and-feel” and graphic design/artwork.

    Commitment to self-training, learning new techniques and maintaining current high-level skills, is essential. Must have solid working-level capabilities with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint, especially relating the import/export of graphics into and out of these applications. Expert ability to prepare complete MS PowerPoint presentations, including embedded graphics and animation, is required.

    Must have strong, self-motivated work ethic and habits and a demonstrated ability to compile detailed, varied and simultaneous graphic design assignments?sometimes on short notice and under tight time deadlines. Must be a team player, willing to work on assignments that may not be pure graphics development in nature (e.g., assist with text inputting using MS Word, etc.). A customer-friendly personality and a demonstrated commitment to meet schedule requirements are critical. Must be willing to work overtime, sometimes on short notice, during the work week and on weekends, when required.df-tc
