Position Description:
The Software Systems Developer is an integral member of the Integrated Production Environment (IPE) development team. This team provides software engineering services for the myriad production systems including feeds/edit systems, media asset management systems, and systems integration. In general these systems are large, highly distributed, and contain a large number of heterogeneous technologies including digital video and audio systems and equipment. Sample development areas include media asset management systems, digital video archives, and event based systems integration.

The Software Systems Developer will work with other members of the development team thorough the full systems lifecycle including requirements capture, design, development, testing, and deployment. The Software Systems Developer should have experience developing and implementing JAVA solutions including initial deployment and configuration scripts. The Software Systems Developer will be responsible for adhering to development standards and participating in the team development plans in accordance with the requirements and priorities established by the IPE program leadership and business units.

The Software Systems Developer must have experience integrating and implementing applications on disparate systems ideally utilizing messaging oriented middleware (MOM). Additionally the Software Systems Developer must have experience with event driven applications and all aspects of integration testing. The Software Systems Developer may be required to perform message provider administrative tasks necessary to facilitate message enablement of target systems and applications.

The ideal candidate will have an established track record leading enterprise systems integration or media management system development, having the experience with all aspects of software development including requirements analysis, software design, implementation, test, and documentation. Candidates must have experience leading mid-to-large size software development teams where they had responsibility for the daily technical management activities including the management of design, development and integration work, as well as maintaining the development environment. Qualified candidates will have previous experience building medium- to large-scale, mission critical production systems that directly support essential business or technical functions. They must show strong initiative and should be comfortable both developing software and interacting with clients within other diverse organizations. Practical experience in the key disciplines of object-oriented software engineering including OOA, OOD, OOP, and testing of OO systems is required. The candidate is required to have solid system engineering (e.g., technical and application architectures, database, operating systems, networking) skills in addition to application development skills.

- Experience implementing large-scale systems and/or reusable system integration architectures.
- In-depth knowledge of J2EE and experience with at least one J2EE application server.
- 5+ years experience with Java
- 3+ years experience with J2EE: JMS, EJB, and web technologies: XML, XSL, and HTML.
