Senior Java JEE Architect/Developer/Team Lead

Riverdale, MD

1-2 years+ contract-to-hire
7+ years of Weblogic a must

This position requires a hands-on J2EE architect and team leader to provide overall direction, guidance, definition and implementation of an enterprise architecture that effectively supports the business needs of our customers. Responsibilities include researching, analysing, designing, prototyping, and leading the implementation of solutions that are appropriate for our business and technology strategies.

Position requires an individual to be comfortable with leadership, a self- starter, and have strong communication skills in interfacing with business partners and the IT community.

Skills:

  • 5+ years experience in J2EE configuration and development.
  • Strong Web architecture and development skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and plan tasks in line with a recognized project delivery methodology
  • Proficient in architecting and configuring various server technologies (Weblogic, Apache/Tomcat, Java 1.6, etc).
  • Ability to interpret business requirements to design and develop complex software solutions.
  • Extensive Java J2EE design and development experience with highly transactional, high availability software applications (financial industry).
  • Experience with Weblogic J2EE Application Server v8.1 & v10, Apache/Tomcat Web Server, Ant, JDBC, JMS, Oracle, etc.
  • Experience with Spring Framework is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface across business areas to proactively define the direction of the application architecture.
  • Conceive solutions, build consensus, document and implement solutions. Involved in all aspects of the development life cycle from planning, requirements analysis, design, and implementation.
  • Develop and establish standards and practices for development team.
  • Evaluate existing architecture proposals, review technologies, review component maintainability and scalability.
  • Perform a multi-disciplinary technical role which requires strong object-oriented design skills and system design skills, Web application architecture and presentation framework skills, J2EE and Java technology architecture, and knowledge of Web application security.
  • Establish J2EE and Web application standard deployment practices.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on development methodologies and frameworks for projects as well as Java and J2EE technologies.
  • Perform technology/tools evaluation and software technical proof of concepts.
  • Work closely with the development and QA teams to ensure that the solutions meet the business and non-functional requirements.
  • Actively participate in documenting the system architecture specification.
