SENIOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK ENGINEER

GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for the assisting with the design, development, and implementation of new communication products and services as well as the maintenance of all data communications networks for Fifth Third Bank and MPS.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide research analysis for network products and services for all company network systems to include alternative networking solutions and network recommendations

* Function as a lead in partnering with business units in the evaluation of upcoming network needs as it relates to capacity planning in developing and implementing network capacity planning on a continuous basis. 

* Provide unique requirements and specifications for network equipment including hardware and software.

* Perform advanced development, testing, support of network solutions

* Perform research and analysis for selection of new network equipment and tools

* Administer, establish and maintain network addressing systems functionality security and integrity.

* Provide management of network standards and documentation. 
 
* Keep current with industry trends and technological innovations.  Makes detailed recommendations to Information Technology management concerning products, methods, and technologies which will enhance utilization of information resources.
 
* Responsible for development and maintenance of key vendor relationships.

* Provide training and direction to team members and / or function as the project manager and senior technical designer/consultant.

* Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
 Bachelor?s degree in Communications or comparable experience required.
 Extensive experience with Avaya products.
 Knowledge of Mercom products, TCP/IP, Cisco, VoIP and network management      applications preferred.
 Project and staff management preferred.
