Duties:

Programmer is responsible for Java/J2EE/J2SE application development supporting business objectives while providing expertise in software development lifecycle phases from concept and design to testing. Analyzes, designs and builds component-based applications in a Web/internet delivery environment, including introduction of an application layer, modeling techniques, component and object-oriented design, complex algorithmic coding, and systematic approaches to application integration. Can also works on existing applications for enhancements, Web sites, Web applications, and infrastructure. Performs hands-on coding and assists in architecting Web content solutions. Can serve as a liaison to internal customers, research groups and various business support areas. Expertise in server-side Web presentation technologies.:

Perform complex design and coding that is likely to involve compressed time frames, new products in different environments and complex business/technical requirements

Consult with customers and stakeholders to define needs and sizing; Design, develop and implement J2EE designs using WebSphere Process Server, Portal Server and Application Server

Develop and deliver all required technical solution documentation in accordance with the Enterprise Lifecycle (ELC) methodology

Develop test plans and perform testing including unit and development level integration testing, as needed

P erform operations and maintenance activities on the existing system and support interfaces and 3 rd party tools used in the environments, as directed by the Project Manager

W ork with the Chief Architect, Development Team Leader and other functional representatives to solve issues

Monitor, make and implement recommendations to improve performance

Track defects as they occur; Perform defect resolution fixes based on the needs of Acceptance Testing and Production issues

Assist with the installation of software patches and new releases of WebSphere software

Assist with the configuration and maintenance of system environment modes & profiles

Technical Skills:

Must

Specialized experience in numerous, highly specialized IT disciplines involving a wide range of hardware/software solutions such as:

- Services Oriented Architecture

- GUI Design

- Advanced J2EE development using WebSphere Application Server Version 5, WebSphere Portal Server v6.1 and WebSphere Process Server v6.2.

- Java , J2EE, JSP, SQL and Software Engineering Methodology, XML

Additional

Strong relational database experience (SQL, Oracle 8i/9i/10g/11i)

Strong background working in distributed Unix environments

Superior organizational and time management skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

N ice to have:

- Experience with Rational Application Developer 6

- Experience using Rational ClearCase/ClearQuest
