Overview:

This software company has produced a business system for a large multi-national distribution company, and is now in the process of enhancing it for general commercial use. Development was done using state of the art development tools in the Windows NT environment, and is now being migrated to .Net technologies (WinForms/Smart Client, C#, SQL Server). This position will provide the IT professional with the unique opportunity for growth working on the complete life-cycle development of a multi-million dollar project.

As part of the future development of this system, they are now looking to bring on board a SQL DBA-Developer with a solid understanding of distributed transaction processing and data transfer methods.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the SQL DBA-Developer are:

* Develop & support stored procedures, user defined functions (UDF), triggers, views and DTS packages in a replicated SQL Server environment
* Develop data migration scripts
* Availability for troubleshooting of client production databases designed for 24/7 availability
* Provide DBA support for development & testing environments
* Performance tuning and query analysis
* Keeps Project Manager &/or team lead apprised of any issues, concerns as appropriate.
* Effectively communicates issues from other teams/groups to team members as needed.

Requirements:

The primary requirements for the SQL DBA-Developer are:

* BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience.
* 3+ years SQL Server DBA Experience
* 7+ years industry experience in database application development
* Experience working with end users to define requirements.
* Ability to perform at a senior level with limited guidance performing complex analysis and design, and creatively solve high-complexity problems.
* Possess excellent written and oral communication skills; able to successfully communicate with multiple disciplines (both technical and business); possess excellent capacity to translate business needs into solutions.
* Ideal candidate will have solid experience working successfully on project teams, a strong ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple priorities, exceptional attention to detail, and be a team player.
* Ability to multi-task and deal effectively with ambiguity
* Very Strong MS SQL Server Transact troubleshooting skills (stored procedures, triggers, etc). Scripting using T-SQL
* Ability to code crawl existing SQL server procedures & triggers to diagnose issues. Medium to strong SQL Server Administration working knowledge.
* Experience working with a replicated environment, especially Transactional Replication, would be helpful
* Ability to work well with people, resolve technical issues (SQL) and communicate effectively with users.
* Drives unresolved support issues into bugs in a timely manner

Compensation:

* Salary - $70K $100K (DOE)
* Full benefit package
