We have an immediate need for a Database Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION
Date resource is required: 09/08/2009
Anticipated end date: contract to hire
Location: Des Moines, IA or Sioux Falls, SD
Job Classification: Database Analyst 4

Contractor should be someone who would be able to be a part of our on-call rotation which is 1 full week, 24 x 7 support every 5 weeks.

Primary Skills :
Hands on experience and an expert for MS SQL Server 2000,2005, and 2008
Hands on experience upgrading from MS SQL Server 2000 to MS SQL Server 2005 and to MS SQL Server 2008
Hands on experience with Windows 2003 and 2008 Server, Polyserve, and Windows Clustering
Knowledge of database replication, log shipping, data mirroring
Knowledge and experience of converting from DTS to SSIS
Knowledge and experience using Sybase PowerDesigner to manage database models
Perl Scripting to maintain infrastructure scripts
Ability to problem solve database issues while on-call 24x7
Knowledge of performance data collection, performance monitoring and performance improvement.
Knowledge of backups and recovery, Security Administration, Database and Server Performance Monitoring and Tuning, and Capacity Planning.

Effective communication, independent worker, and leadership skills are key. I am ok and willing to train them on the processes but I dont want my staff to have to train them on the technical abilities of their job.

Project work:
SQL Server 2005 migrations
Primary DBA Support on LOB databases
SQL Server 2008 migration, support, testing

*Oracle/Unix skills are a plus as candidate would also be apart of Line of Business database support for some Oracle systems

Platform and Skill Set Expertise:
Database Administration : Oracle, Database Administration : MS SQL Server
