Description
Support, administer and maintain SQL Server 2000 environments running on
WinNT/2000/2003 platforms
Responsible for maintaining defined day to day operating procedures for SQL Server databases
Provide RDBMS 1st level support (some on-call support may be involved)
Support development effort by providing Transact-SQL statement tuning, optimum data loading techniques, and stored procedure creation/editing
Trouble-shoot database problems as required
Planning, installing, and upgrading SQL Server binaries and instances
Allocating system storage for optimum I/O
Providing and implementing optimum physical database design.
Providing schema management for objects such tables, views, indexes etc, and ensuring they met internal database standards
Enrolling users and maintaining system security; account management
Controlling and monitoring user access to the database
Provide some instance level performance monitoring and tuning
Plan/rehearse database recovery plans
Write codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures
Assist in data models and database designs, data access, data migration and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, clustered, and other distributed data issues

Experience/Skills
5+ years experience in database administration
Working knowledge of SQL database design, architecture, functions, views, normalization and stored procedures
a minimum of 3 years SQL Server 2000 experience
Experience with Veritas Backup Software and MS Clustered Environments
Knowledge or experience with disk storage sub-systems or SAN, such as EMC/NetAppliance
Experience with SQL Server complete, differential, and transaction log backups
Working knowledge of Java 2 or Visual Studio.NET
Any SABA Learning Management System Experience a definite plus
Ability to work with a team and share specific knowledge with co-workers
Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal business hours
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
4 year degree or equivalent experience desired
Auto industry experience is a plus
