The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration. This person must also be skilled in installation, performance tuning, troubleshooting, backups, system monitoring, capacity planning, SQL Profiler, clustering, DTS/SSIS packages, and SSRS Reporting Services in 64-bit SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 Any experience with SQL Server 2008 will be a plus.

The SQL database administrator is responsible for designing and implementing systems and process for deploying, upgrading, managing, archiving and extracting data for reporting, on a variety of Blackbaud software products hosted for our client base.. The SQL database administrator will work closely with the development teams and operations system administrators to optimize schema and performance as well as standardize the use of services provided by Microsoft SQL.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Database Backup and Recovery
• Database platform (server) cluster nodes
• Database security best practices (e.g. referential integrity, authorization models, etc)
• Database performance, tuning, monitoring and maintenance
• Stored procedure programming and SSIS packages development
• Design, model, develop and implement databases based on Relational and Object Oriented design models
• Designing and implementing a process for deploying, upgrading, managing, archiving and extracting data for various databases and data warehouse
• Work closely with development team to optimize schema and performance as well as standardize the use of services provided by Microsoft SQL
• Problem solving
• Provide rationale for decisions to the technical architect, balancing concerns of stakeholders, driving down technical risks, and ensuring decisions are effectively communicated, validated and followed
• Ensure standards and best practices used in database development are followed and maintained



Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience
• 3-5 years experience in SQL Server database administration, backup/recovery, performance tuning, SQL development, data modeling, development, implementation and support of databases and data warehouses for global, large scale, transactional systems
• Experience with optimization and troubleshooting techniques to address performance problems on SQL Server 2005
• Advanced expertise in stored procedure programming, data modeling, replication, performance monitoring/tuning, and database administration
• Strong background in data warehousing, ETL and distributed environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to concisely describe complex activities in writing
• Ability to track and report work activities accurately and hit deadlines
