Description
GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:
TRASYS, Inc. is currently seeking a SQL Database Administrator for a long term contract in Dayton OH.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•The Senior SQL Database Administrator manages and maintains databases with respect to design, access methods, security and integrity.
•Examines and manages database requirements of the end user and the applications developer.
•Ensures compliance with documented goals for enterprise data architecture.
•Makes recommendations for solutions requiring the knowledge of the physical structure and the functional capabilities of the database engine.
•Responsible for maintenance of the data dictionaries, the adherance to standards, and successful systems integration through good database design.
•Maintains up-to-date knowledge of products, developments, and trends in database management software.
•Monitors access times, performs validation checks and uses other methods to monitor and analyze database performance, according to self established and documented metrics.
•Manages device allocations and file sizes, builds indexes, reorganizes tables, and purges data in accordance with established business purge criteria.
•Works with the applications group for creating and refreshing of test data environments, while adhering to acceptable security standards, and assists the principal data architect as needed.
•Manages data migration: production to test, production to production on different hardware. Also manages database engine upgrades and application suite changes.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
•Minimum of 5 years database experience preferably in Microsoft SQL Server.
•Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Excellent scripting skills are also essential.
•Understanding good teamwork is an absolute requirement.df-tc
