Description
The position of Jr. SQL Server Database Administrator supports the organization’s backoffice database needs. The role will encompass the hands-on support of terabyte class databases, including, but not limited to, monitoring, re-indexing, general database maintenance, extract-transformation-load, backup/recovery, documentation, and configuration.ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain multiple instances of SQL Server 2000Administration and monitoring of existing DatabasesAdhere to and apply SQL Server management procedures and processesCreate and maintain maintenance scripts for databasesPerform maintenance on database serversWork in a team environment by collaborating with others and sharing tools, skills, and knowledgeParticipates in appropriate change planning meetings and prepares necessary documentation for appropriate change authorizations

Experience/Skills
Minimum 2 year hands-on experience in a 3 tier SQL Server 2000 & 2005 shop (SQL 2008 is a big plus)Hands on knowledge of administrating on a MS-SQL platform using Enterprise ManagerMid-level hands-on knowledge of SQL, TSQL, Triggers, Cursors, & Stored ProceduresHands on knowledge of performing simple queries via Query AnalyzerStrong understanding of database conceptsKnowledge of DTS and experience in automating tasks with DTSFamiliarity of Intel based hardware - can set up and maintain hardware solutionsKnowledge of server maintenance (logins, connections, process monitoring, capacity)Knowledge of Oracle Database environment a major plusStrong problem-solving and logical analysis skills, as well as strong technical backgroundMust be a self-starter capable of working independentlyMust be detailed oriented
