Firm located in Atlanta (Buckhead) seeks a Production SQL Server Database Administrator for a 6-9 mos. contract.

Job Description:
Scope
The Database Administrator is accountable for the performance, maintenance, synchronization, security, and accessibility of all production database systems with demonstrated proficiency in job management, backup/restores and performance tuning. Position is also accountable for developing stored procedures and views with extensive use of T-SQL programming and for providing technical support to application developers and end users. In addition, the position is accountable for troubleshooting system issues, developing, establishing and monitoring scheduled jobs and maintenance plans, and proactively monitoring the performance of all databases.

Responsibilities include:
Creating, maintaining and monitoring MS SQL Server jobs.
Monitor, tune, and analyze database performance and allocate server resources to achieve optimum database performance.
Setup of new MS SQL Server instances and databases.
Detailed documentation of MS SQL Server system environment, setup, maintenance and standards.
Capacity planning of database servers

Competencies, Skills, Certifications
Extensive knowledge of MS SQL 2000 or higher required.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
Strong attention to detail skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style.
Good verbal and written communications skills with the ability and desire to effectively document procedures.
Must have knowledge of MS SQL Sever best practices.
MCSE/MCDBA is desirable.
Strong experience in database Backup, Restore and Recovery procedures.
Hands on experience with SQL Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, Profiler, Data Transformation Services.
Strong SQL programming skills including, developing testing T-SQL stored procedures queries.
Experience in tuning and analyzing SQL Server databases for performance.
Performance monitoring experience using Windows Performance Monitor and MS SQL Server Profiler.
Strong desire and passion to learn new technologies.
