Description
The database administrator will primarily be responsible for maintaining the integrity, reliability, security of our SQL database environment. The administrator will help the organization manage storage requirements and growth; provide SQL Monitoring (logs) and tuning; reporting, auditing; implement and enforce best practices, standard operating procedures, etc.; provide recommendations for our database hardware and software architecture; assist with documentation of our SQL environment; institute disaster recovery plans, procedures and testing related to SQL database backups; manage upgrades and patches; create queries, stored procedures and triggers; manage roles, users and permissions; interface with internal and external technical teams; perform project related tasks; automate DBA tasks; and provide on-call support as necessary.df-tc

Experience/Skills
• Training and experience in SQL data manipulation language to perform queries, tuning, stored procedures, triggers and more.• A solid understanding of relational database design, including actual design experience.• Administrative experience with SQL Server/MSDE, including performing backups, maintaining database security, and other routine tasks with exposure to hardware, OS, OS logs and SQL logs.• Experience with SQL Clustering and/or Storage Area Network architecture.• DBA certification desirable.• BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred.• Prefer someone with working knowledge of regulations related to HIPAA, FDA, PHI, and data handling, security, and processes.• Strong familiarity with SQL database security roles and other security related access/authentication methods such as DB roles, SQL user roles, application authentication, OS authentication, domain authentication, etc.• Understanding of data protection schemes utilizing encryption.• Ability to optimize DB performance by diversification, hardware recommendation and implementation, SQL optimization, load balancing, clustering, etc.
