Description
Our client is looking for an expert Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Database Administrator for a long term (6 months or more) contract opportunity working about 20 hours a week.Typical duties will include:• Responsible for installation, maintenance, and technical support of our Business Management Database and Application in a MS SQL Server 2005 environment. • Responsible for problem resolution, database configuration, capacity planning, and performance tuning. • Responsible for day to day database operations, including system administration functions. • Maintain database including design/redesign/creation/integration, data loading, security and permissions and reduction of redundant data.• Assist in the gathering of reporting requirements, report enhancements and organizational report generation process.• Perform systems development and modifications, and cost estimates in response to user, departmental or organizational requirements. • Create and maintain database system documentation, data input standards and protocols, metadata dictionary and end user manual. • Administer the technical design, testing, and implementation of the database. Ensures test procedures are defined, documented, and implemented.• Ensure backup procedures are defined, documented, and implemented for full database recovery. • Provide technical support to the staff and performs problem determination and trouble-shooting of technical issues with the database. • Provide database design functions, creation of efficient data access paths, training in formal and informal settings, and conversion of data into information. Data modeling, database optimization, understanding and implementation of schemas, and the ability to interpret and write SQL queries and scripts.Proactively monitor systems for optimum performance and capacity constraints.• Perform related duties as needed or assigned.
