Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. It is currently looking for a SQL Server DBA to join our team in Richardson, TX.

Job Responsibilities:
Plans and coordinates the administration of databases, to ensure accurate, appropriate, and effective use of data, including database definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, and operational guidelines. Performs quality control audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper usage of data in tables and various support tools, such as database dictionaries. Reviews database design and integration of systems, including client/servers, mainframes, etc., and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. May establish and maintain security and integrity controls. Provides appropriate consulting, interfacing, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. Prepares and/or reviews activity, progress, and performance reports.

Typically the Senior Specialist demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform in all of the basic database management skills of data administration, web connectivity, physical structure, SQL and SQL applications, and overall architecture and database analysis. In addition, applies detailed and specific knowledge of at least one of these areas. Plans and configures the physical database environment. Evaluates and recommends the purchase and utilization of technologies such as DBMS/s, servers, extract and conditioning tools, metadata management, security tools and archival and recovery tools and data access. Develops project plans for implementing data warehouses. Plans projects and oversees the tactical aspects of a data warehouse implementation and maintenance. Diagnoses, resolves and implements preventive measures to prevent problems for applications and system software. Designs data storage and management processes for specific data warehouse projects. Recommends and oversees implementation of system level configuration modifications to optimize performance. Ensures maintenance.

  • Assists new application development teams in determining complex database environment requirements
  • May utilize statistical/analytical skills to interpret results from data mining

    Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of SQL Server experience working as database administrator in an enterprise environment with multiple database servers
  • Strong hands-on experience in back-up recovery, performance tuning, installations and patching of the database systems
  • 1+ years experience in SQL Server 2005 Creating/troubleshooting complex queries/stored procedures
  • 1+ years of experience in creating custom reports, writing queries and stored procedures for these reports in a SQL Server 2005 environment
  • 1+ years SQL security administration and disaster recovery
  • 1+ years of experience in design and administration of MS reporting services
  • Must be able to exercise appropriate judgment when assessing the needs of the client and determine the resolution best suited for the situation
  • Experience handling concurrent or multiple tasks/projects efficiently
  • Must be able to work overtime hours when necessary
  • Must be available for 24X7 on-call rotation
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft analysis services
  • Knowledge of and experience with ETL products such as DTS, and SSIS

    Desired Skills:
  • Extensive trouble shooting
  • Application development experience, including Visual Basic/Java Scripting, and the ability and readiness to adopt codes and scripts written by others and support it
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with Oracle or other RDBMS
  • Experience with Sharepoint
  • Bachelors degree
  • Microsoft Certified SQL Server DBA
