Description
Prestigious Trading Firm located in Chicagos Loop is currently seeking a SQL Server DBA. This position is for a strong 2-3 year SQL DBA out of a trading environment. Candidates will work under a Senior DBA. Candidates must have trading industry experience.

Responsibilities:
Reports to the senior DBA
Manage all development and production database servers
Manage database backups and ensure that Corporate Disaster Recovery and Data Retention protocols are adhered to.
Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues and conduct database transaction audits.
Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
Establish standardized security protocols for all databases.
Develop and maintain live snapshots for development.
Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems and work with development teams on data sizing.
Work with the application support / development teams for database upgrades and releases.
Active in all hardware decisions for new servers; and any technology upgrades.
Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, and standards in support of development efforts.

Experience/Skills
Qualifications:
2+ years of database administration experience , preferably in a financial environment (bank, hedge fund, trading firm, etc).
Hands-on SQL Server 2000 administration, database tuning and troubleshooting experience. Must know all the standard SQL Server tools.
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Must have SQL, T-SQL, DTS package skills.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2000/2003; good Active Directory knowledge.
Some knowledge of Linux / Unix and the cross platform issues involved in access.
Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices.
Strong knowledge in at least one language (scripting or otherwise)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent documentation and knowledge management skills
SAN and DB replication experience is a plus.
