Title: SQL Server DBA
Location: Cranberry, PA
Permanent position
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per annum


Position Description

* Establish database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.

* Responsible for devising, negotiating, and defending the tables and fields provided in the database.

* Validate the data, database specifications, table and element attributes for an application.

* Ensure that tables relate to each other and fields interact within the tables for a relational model. Identify and eliminate database performance issues and database job failures.

* Develop and execute backup steps to recover databases for disaster recovery and business continuity.

* Exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.

* Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

* Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Key responsibilities:

* Develop, disseminate, implement and administer strategies, standards, policies, models, and databases that recognize information as a valuable asset that serves all stakeholders in the company.

* Recommend changes in policies, procedure s, maintenance, and system standards.
Ensure that recommended practices are transitioned into day -t o-day practices.

* Document data definitions, calculations, summarizations. Define, maintain and enforce the use of standardized data element names, abbreviations, characteristics/attributes and domains.

* Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models.

* Ensure SQL Server Databases backup and recovery, technology currency, and database integrity.

* Administer databases including monitoring and responding SQL Server job exceptions and regularly monitoring and tuning of databases to provide optimal performance.

* Understand privacy and security legislation and requirements. Develop and implement data security practices.

* Ensure that information needs and business rules are in compliance with corporate policies and standards.

* Issue logging, tracking, analysis, reporting, and management.

* Participate in software development lifecycle for new and existing applications, including reviewing and i implementing changes to SQL Server database objects.

* Must be accountable and responsible for working on business critical applications and databases that operate 24/7/365.

* Handle project and task level assignments. Other duties as assigneddf-tc
