Description
DBA will be the sole resource for the installation, tuning, and maintenance of all SQL*Server based database systems at Darden. This responsibility includes the operation of, and the active debugging of SQL*Server databases running from small instances up to many gigabyte databases.

This position will also be the sole resource for several large systems here at Darden including Magic Helpdesk, LMS, ParPull as well as numerous smaller systems. Maintenance of these large systems includes updates, patches, and active debugging of all the related systems and interfaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.):
Install and tune entire Microsoft technology tree on Windows 2000 & 2003 server environments
Identify and research database issues and bugs, and work through Microsoft MSDN and Support to fix
Maintain datafiles, indexes, tablespaces, views, and all other component database entities
Act as primary resource during major database reorganizations
Provide management with reports relating to database utilization, disk usage, long running queries, etc.
Act as chief liaison with development teams in developing SQL, stored procedures, and other DB code
Create and maintain comprehensive database backup strategy, and ensure regular systemic backups
Configure and maintain entire security schema including system security and OS level security of binaries.
Act as main resource for the installation and configuration of new program code and modules, as well as external updates including patches and security updates.
During incidents and outages, act as main POC for resolving issues and enact necessary changes
Ensure 24x7 availability of said production systems

Additional Job Information:
Must be familiar with other technologies including Crystal Reports, .ASP & Visual Basic, and Java.
Responsibility for Change Management within Database and program code tree, and within the databases

SQL Server 6.5, 7, 2000 expertise
Magic Administration
Large Windows-based System Administration
Experience with DB tuning utilities including dbtrace and SQL Probe
At least 3 years as primary SQL Server DBA resource for multiple application is required

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
The Ability to code complex scripts
Should understand completely Microsoft file permission structures
Ability to accomplish advanced database and SQL tuning objectives
Understand external entity relationships between multiple production and authentication systems

Education and/or Experience:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field or 3+ years extensive SQL*Server DBA experience
