Description
This role will have primary responsibility for the administration of our MS SQL Server database environment, and will work closely with the system administration group (which administers the hardware, operating system software, and network), application developers (who write in-house software that accesses the databases), and vendors of third party systems that use SQL Server database backends.

Responsibilities:
  • Installation, configuration, and upgrades of SQL Server software
  • Design and development of database monitoring and maintenance processes
  • Integration support for third-party systems that use SQL Server backends
  • Performance and tuning analysis
  • Schema and query design support for application developers
Qualifications:
  • Solid hands-on experience in all aspects of SQL Server 2000/2005 administration in a clustered environment is required, with strong skills in troubleshooting and performance analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience in logical and physical schema design are required.
  • Since much of our maintenance and monitoring infrastructure has been developed in house using C#/.NET, the candidate should have some programming experience to be able to support and extend this infrastructure as needed.
  • Experience in C#/.NET is preferred but not required, and experience with the SMO object model is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate would have past experience in the financial industry, but it is not absolutely necessary.
