Title: SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Minnesota

The SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, performance, security and recoverability of next generation multi-terabyte, highly transactional databases behind a multi-national real time communications system. This role will manage database oriented projects, maintain all best practices, and provide an escalation point for all database issues.



The team is focused on collecting, manipulating, analyzing and displaying information for our customers related to performance and Key Performance Indicators, this team is at the center of the entire organization. Using collaborative methods for development and support of our applications, the team provides services from development of new applications, support and extension of current ones, as well as supporting development of new products. Join a team of Engineers, Database Analysts, Architects and Business Intelligence Analysts to provide cutting edge solutions to both internal and external customers.

Experience/Skills
Responsibilities:

. Install, administrate and maintain distributed schema and data to ensure maximum availability.

. Perform problem resolution in an effective and timely manner, determine and resolve issues as required working with our customers, internal and external support partners.

. Provide support for production databases including performance monitoring, and daily maintenance management to prevent data loss, unplanned downtime or performance degradation.

. Plan, schedule and coordinate the implementation of new schema and schema modifications to existing databases in a manner that avoids disruption to production systems.

. Plan, build and execute detailed project plans including measurable milestones, specified goals and deliverables.

. Participate and perform multiple projects and tasks, demonstrating time management and prioritization skills to accommodate business requirements while managing scheduled tasks and activities.

. Provide support as a team member in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation.


Required Skills:

. Experience supporting a 24x7 SQL Server 2000/2005 production environment, and all associated administrative software tools.

. High level knowledge with SQL Server internals, database design, T-SQL, backup/restore, replication, DTS/SSIS, MSDTC, security and understanding of performance tuning and troubleshooting.

. Knowledge and experience with Change Management, Problem Management and Incident Management Policies and Procedures.

. Ability to work effectively in a business emergency situation.

. Effective communication (written, verbal and listening), organization and time management skills.

. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Skills:

. Knowledge of ITIL framework.

. An understanding of OLAP Systems and how to design and build them

. Experience in ETL coding and implementation

. Data Modeling and Data Architecture

. Business Objects XI and/or Crystal Reports

..Net C# development experience
