PEROT SYSTEMS CORPORATION is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. It is currently looking for a SR Oracle DBA Specialist to join our team in Plano, TX.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the Technical Project Manager, & Enterprise Reporting Team Lead ensuring the Oracle data base is appropriately sized, tuned and modeled for the data reporting & sharing requirements of the organization

  • Understand the Cache database as it relates to the Oracle/Clarity environment

  • Develops and maintains liaison with application specific reporting analysts & programmers as needed to ensure continuity of service to end users

  • Support new project development including system analysis, planning and preparation

  • Create and maintain regular status reports to immediate Team Leader

  • Develop, support and maintain documentation and procedures as needed, provide training to other IT staff and user clients as appropriate

  • Attends weekly team meetings to discuss team and project related activities, issues, change, communications, and updates

  • Completes specific team task activities as documented on the Work Plan

  • Supports all project team members with application and information systems knowledge. Primary resource dedicated to design and configuration of the Oracle database

  • Documents and maintains all required system design and build documents

  • Provides expertise and experience to the development of activation plans, application activation tasks, and production environment readiness

  • Logs, tracks, and resolves issues as well as any software code modifications or enhancements

  • Logs, tracks, analyzes, and coordinates system changes including any software code implementations

  • Daily database monitoring for errors & events

  • Issue fixes and problem resolution for production and development databases

  • Off hours patching and maintenance tasks

  • Logging and executing on support requests with database vendors

  • Performing tests and routine validation of backup and recovery scenarios

  • Documenting issue resolution & providing status reports to key team members

  • Incident response for production systems, including 24x7 on call rotation

  • Frequent phone and email communication with customers and internal resources


  • Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of Oracle database administration experience, with specific expertise in enteprise reporting
  • Business Objects (Crystal Decisions Enterprise)

  • Hands on Data modeling experience

  • Skilled in Database Security

  • 2+ yrs experience using Oracle in a Unix AIX environment

  • 2+ years SQL scripting or programming experience

  • 2+ years working in a Data Warehouse environment

  • 2+ years of database monitoring, performance tuning, backup & recovery

  • Familiarity with industry standard database monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager or Sql Server Management Studio


  • Desired Skills:
  • Oracle OCA or OCP certification is a plus

  • Oracle 10g experience

  • Familiarity with EPIC healthcare information management system
  • Solid understanding of current applications and trends in business intelligence and enterprise reporting

  • 3-5 years extensive experience maintaining, installing, configuring an Oracle RDBMS database. SQL Server experience is also a plus

  • Academic Medical Center experience preferred

  • Excellent matrix management skills as a team member

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of various teams


  • Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Information Systems or relevant experience




  • This position requires after hours and weekend work and will participate in the 24X7 on call rotation
